I can’t wait for Christmas to build these with Evan.

Want to come to a friendly dinner?

by Christopher on October 7, 2012

Evan and I were playing with his new Batman lego set we built (98% him).

Evan was playing Robin and I was playing Poison Ivy (bad guy) and a robber.  I was going around trying to steal things like a batwing and whatever else I could take.  Evan then says as Robin “Poison Ivy come here, I won’t hurt you.  Would you like to come to a friendly dinner?” while leading me to the prison suggesting I step inside for dinner.

Might have to have been there, but I thought it was hysterical.  He then played the same trick and captured the robber and Bane shortly after.

Lego Planes

Evan got a Star Wars Lego set for his birthday, it is rated 7-12 year old.  When doing legos, I usually do most of the work building it and he plays with it.  This time I wanted him to do as much of it as possible.  I separated the pieces into piles, and page by page handed him the pieces he needed for the page.  Evan built the entire thing by himself minus 2 times where I corrected the position of a block for him.  Very impressed and proud of my little builder.

Then this morning, he built the airliner from scratch completely without help!  It took around two hours but he was able to build this by following the directions with his new found confidence.  The Star Wars one was impressive, but I had a feeling he could do it.  This was a complete shock.

I’ve talked to Evan a lot about Legos and finally bought him his first set.  They are rated for ages 5-12 so it is very early for him to be using traditional legos, but if I help him build it and watch that he doesn’t lose any pieces, I think we are going to be just fine.

We had a lot of fun building this a couple of days ago and he still drives it around off and on.  I’ve been looking at a lot of Lego sets lately but I’m trying to hold off until he gets older and will likely buy them off Craig’s List anyway since I can probably get like 15 sets for the price of 2.
